Canvas

Good Afternoon!  Today I am going to share with you one of my paintings I created using the stencil Roses.  Go ahead and click on the link and take a look at the stencil in the shop!  I grabbed a blank canvas, some acrylic paint, my stencils, and headed over to a friends crafty space to be creative and this was what my painting came out to be.  I purposely had no plan for what to paint or design.
Picture
As you can see, it looks like a baby chicken with a crown, which is what I called it appropriately.    I just started to randomly choose bright colors of acrylic paint and started to paint on the canvas.  I wanted to create some texture, so I kept the brush strokes broken apart.  I lightly blended between each color but not looking for any perfection of any kind.  I did make sure to paint on the edges of the canvas too since it is about 1 inch thick.

I then pulled out my roses stencil while I left my layers to dry and decided to paint some yellow roses to make them stand out against the colors.  I did this very loosely, not worrying about getting paint on other parts of the painting.  I then freely painted leaves around the roses.  I let this dry for a while until I moved on to my bird.
Picture
I had no plan for the shape or type of bird.  I just started painting in black and dark brown and it slowly formed as what looks like a chicken.  I decided to place a crown on the head randomly and then placed some white and black dots randomly all over the canvas.  I encourage you to just paint whatever it is you feel at the moment.  I usually always plan out my paintings but it is fun to just paint and see what happens.  Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but with those times, you can always start over.  The next step is to seal the painting with a spray and it's ready to hang up!

Have a wonderful day!
